The vacation house design drew heavily from an initial sketch, forming a robust foundation for its conception. The respect for the topography guided the integration of the main block and adjacent overlays, achieving a distinctive volumetric balance. By partially embedding the main block into the natural slope and utilizing different levels, the design minimized verticality and harmonized with the terrain. This approach resulted in a three-story residence characterized by slender, horizontal lines emphasized by the metal structure of the upper eaves. These design choices aimed to achieve proportional harmony despite the challenges posed by the house's scale and verticality.

The site selected for the project is characterized by its lack of significant nearby buildings, offering a profound sense of privacy and surrounded by expansive open spaces. The design deliberately embraces Brazilian architectural identity, particularly through the strategic use of materials such as wood and stone. These choices not only seamlessly integrate the building's volume into the natural landscape but also ensure practical advantages such as durability, resistance, and an elegant aesthetic. This approach serves as a central strategy to cultivate an authentic connection with the environment, emphasizing the harmonious dissolution of the residence within its natural surroundings.
Valência House, honored with IF Design Awards and a special mention from Architizer, showcases sustainability through its design and materials. Sustainable practices, including solar panels for renewable energy and rainwater harvesting for gardening, significantly reduce energy consumption and conserve water resources. High-quality thermal and acoustic roof insulation enhances comfort while minimizing the need for artificial heating or cooling, demonstrating a commitment to lowering the house's carbon footprint and preserving local water sources.
The proposal was primarily approved due to its adherence to the initial concepts and its ability to translate these concepts into a viable and executable architectural solution within a short period of time. The final form of the project remained largely faithful to the conceptual principles established initially, with few significant alterations. The changes that occurred throughout the development process were mainly related to the optimization of the initial concepts to ensure their suitability to the practical needs of the client. The approved proposal has been refined in terms of execution and detailing to align with the project's technical specifications, while preserving its original aesthetic. As a result, the design principles remain intact, but the approved proposal incorporates improvements aimed at ensuring its successful implementation. The layout of Valência House was meticulously planned to offer both functionality and comfort while seamlessly integrating with the surrounding natural environment. The design process involved careful consideration of various factors to ensure that every aspect of the house contributed to a harmonious living experience. We envisioned this house as a summer retreat for hosting friends and family, a place where we could enjoy spacious living areas as well as cozy retreats. The place provides comfort and privacy, allowing us to take advantage of the views. We wanted the leisure areas to ensure special moments. Every detail of this house has been thought blending comfort and elegance, creating a welcoming and elegant atmosphere for us to enjoy special moments with loved ones.
