The design idea for the complete restyling of the hall, restaurant, meeting rooms and rooms of Meliá Milano was born from the desire to offer a new dimension of design to the hotel. The inspiration for the concept came from an evolved conception of space that recalls the modernist and functional essentiality of Le Corbusier, combined with green design elements. Each area of the hotel is made with elements that create and separate spaces without the presence of walls, thus amplifying their functionality and giving the internal and external spaces of the hotel a welcoming and contemporary character.

The VGA Architects studio contributed to translating Alvaro Sans' idea into an international project, while maintaining a strong link with the Milanese context. Natural materials and light have been enhanced to create an elegant and welcoming space, which reflects both contemporary design and Milan's historical heritage. Meliá Milano thus presents itself as a high-level destination for the most demanding travelers and to meet the needs of a modern and cosmopolitan clientele, offering quality hospitality that blends perfectly with the vibrant atmosphere of the Lombard city. The aim was to create a timeless environment, which reflected the best of Milan design and hospitality.

Architect Vittorio Grassi placed emphasis on the importance of functionality and safety, guaranteeing high standards in terms of innovation and sustainability. The structure is animated by lush internal gardens around which the various environments develop harmoniously. Green creates continuity between the external spaces, becoming the protagonist, both as a chromatic solution and as an ecological element, giving the rooms a welcoming and contemporary character. The predominant presence of wood gives the environment a natural appearance. Fundamental importance has also been given to the lighting systems calibrated with natural light, maximized by the wide windows and large skylights on the ceiling which allow for the reduction of energy consumption.

The restyling of the Hotel Melià Milano emphasized the openness and lightness of the spaces. Each area of the hotel is in fact developed with elements that create and separate spaces without walls. Inspired by a more functional and architectural approach in the distribution of the various rooms of this structure from the industrial plant, single-use areas have been abolished, the conference space has doubled and greenery is doubly protagonist both as a chromatic solution and as an ecological oasis. Another fundamental and highly characterizing aspect is the continuity between the internal and external spaces, which invites even those who are not customers of the hotel to enter and use its spaces, opening it up to the public and the city. Everything is closer and more functional, contained in a large hall that offers a global experience, where the areas dedicated to meetings, co-working, the Elixyr Melià café and the Mamì Restaurant, a new eclectic Milanese gastronomic address, fit perfectly.

This important investment in Meliá Milano manifests the international hotel group's willingness to join the desire for recovery that permeates the Lombard city by inaugurating a new evocative chapter in high-profile hospitality. Thinking of renovating a historic hotel in Milan immediately after the Covid period, giving new life to the spaces to make them more contemporary and functional, was a real challenge. The result was surprising!
