The project is located in the South Taihu Lake Tourist Resort, at the northern foot of Xiaomei Mountain. The height difference is as high as 60 meters, and the mountain environment is complex. There are existing problems such as "steep mountains, poor vegetation, difficulty in reaching, strange buildings, and barren landscapes." Commissioned by the owner, we designed to improve the overall appearance of Xiaomei Mountain. The design adheres to the principle of "restoration first, then intervention", with the goal of "reshaping the mountain forest" and returning Xiaomei Mountain to a natural forest. At the same time, the volume and color of the building are controlled, and a variety of landscape treatment methods are used to allow the building and nature to coexist harmoniously.

The project is based on restoring the ecological landscape of the mountain forest. It moves the transportation system outward and combines it with the elevated plank road to maximize the mountain forest landscape. It controls the building volume and weakens the building shape. It uses simple and warm materials, such as bamboo, wood, rough stone, etc. , control the building color to blend the building with the mountain and forest landscape. Various methods such as courtyard landscaping, retaining wall vertical greening, terrace landscaping, and roof greening are used to fully integrate architecture and nature, creating a resort hotel integrated into the natural mountains and forests.
The design adheres to the principle of “repair first, intervene later”. First, retain the original terrace and retaining walls. Secondly, the original building was renovated to control the volume and reduce excavation. Finally, the original trees were retained and new forests were replanted to "re-green" them. Use light transportation methods: inclined elevators and overhead planks. Solve a series of problems such as "less excavation, preservation of vision, and vertical traffic". It is worth mentioning that the bamboo boards and bamboo strips on the building facade are processed from local bamboo in Huzhou, which increases the regional dimension of the building. Over time, changes in materials will also increase the architectural texture.
Guanhu Hotel is located in the tourist resort area, close to Taihu Lake, and is a renovation project. Facing the complex mountain environment, the design respects nature. Based on the principles of "restoring mountains and forests" and "light intervention", we removed roads and restored green areas to allow the mountains and forests to return; we used diagonal elevators and overhead plank roads to create mountain tour paths to solve traffic problems and reduce damage to the mountain forest landscape; we controlled the building volume. , control the transformation principle of building color to make the facade blend with the mountains and forests; finally, greening is added through roof greening, vertical greening, landscape courtyards, etc., so that the building is wrapped in green plants. A bridge, a pool of water, and a cluster of fire create a wonderful arrival scene and light up the guests' hotel stay experience. Weakening the architecture and integrating with nature creates a secluded resort.
In this project, we made useful explorations in dealing with the complex mountain environment and site conditions. Under the general principle of "light intervention", we realized the design of "maximizing the protection and restoration of the mountainous landscape on the northern slope of Xiaomei Mountain" Target. I hope it will settle over time and grow naturally and plainly next to Taihu Lake together with the mountains and forests of Huzhou.
