In order to reflect the topography of Kigali architecturally, we created a hill-shaped architecture by breaking down the masses instead of a single large mass, and referenced the topography of Kigali consisting of thousands of hills. The campus, where more than 5000 students will study at the same time, also references the fragmented architectural texture in the surrounding area with its fragmented masses.

Since the building is on a sloping land, entrances to the building are provided from different elevations. The campus can be accessed from the upper road and the lower road, and there are 7 different entrances to the building. The building has a fragmented geometry according to the proportions of the surrounding structures. Instead of being located at the lower level of the land on which it is located, it is located higher up and the users coming to the building are greeted with a square instead of a direct building.
The university project was designed with a steel structure instead of reinforced concrete. Steel is a green material that can be recycled and reused. Instead of completely burying the building into the natural slope by excavating the land, the natural ground was tried to be preserved by doing as little excavation as possible.By using natural wood in the interior, a warm architectural space was achieved and carbon emissions were reduced. Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete is used on the white surfaces of the building. It is made up of stable and inert natural minerals that are not considered pollutants or toxic in nature, which means that it is not polluting the air or water. GFRC often uses recycled aggregates, glass fiber, sand and cement in its production.
The University of Kigali campus, which includes 5 different departments:
1-School of Computing and Information Technology
2-Business School
3-School of Law
4-School of Education
5-Graduate School-Masters
These different departments are designed within an architectural integrity that coexists with each other and allows mutual cohesion and information exchange between students, rather than buildings isolated from each other. Students studying in different departments being aware of what each other is learning enables them to develop different perspectives regarding their own fields. Many inventions are achieved by transferring knowledge from other fields to another field. A campus design that will provide this interchange of information in university buildings is inevitable for young people, the owners of the future, to gain new perspectives, and we achieved this in our design. The structure was designed as an architectural interpretation of Kigali's sloping topography consisting of thousands of hills.
Excellent design as Campus.
Istanbul , Nairobi and Kigali and based architecture office WALL Corporation was founded by architect Selim Senin in 2010 at Istanbul first. Senin has extended Wall corporation in Kigali at 2017, in Nairobi at 2022 too. He continues to work on various projects in Turkey ,Kenya, Uganda, DRC, Mozambique and Rwanda from Nairobi, Kigali and Istanbul offices. WALL Corporation is the architectural design company which has received more than 75 international architectural design awards from U.S.A, Italy, UK, Russia and India! WALL is a company that can design buildings in any function regardless of scale and structure typology. Besides the design of the building, it contains all the engineering disciplines required for the construction of the building.
