The project is based on the traditional Sicilian architecture, with elements that reflect the local heritage. The design aims to create an authentic and captivating environment by seamlessly blending traditional features. A central element of the design is the internal courtyard, a "patio" surrounded by the villa's rooms. The courtyard serves as a space for gathering and relaxation, allowing residents to enjoy natural light and fresh air. The juxtaposed volumes are another distinctive feature inspired by ancient Sicilian traditions. The rooms are organized around the courtyard, with distinct volumes accommodating different functions such as living areas, bedrooms, and service areas. This layout ensures a harmonious distribution of spaces and creates a sense of intimacy and privacy.
The house seamlessly blends with its surrounding context, creating a harmonious connection between the interior and exterior spaces. The outdoor areas are designed to reflect the beauty and richness of Sicilian nature. Careful attention is given to these spaces, integrating elements such as pergolas, porches, and terraces that extend from the villa's interior layout. These spaces are conceived as outdoor living areas, perfect for relaxation, socializing, and enjoying the magnificent panoramic views. The grand entrances and expansive windows enable a strong visual and physical connection with the outdoor spaces, allowing natural light to permeate the interiors and creating a sense of continuity between the indoor and outdoor areas.
Particular attention is given to the choice of materials, prioritizing those with low environmental impact, recyclable, and locally sourced to reduce the ecological footprint associated with transportation. Advanced insulation systems, high-efficiency windows, and low-energy consumption heating and cooling solutions contribute to reducing energy consumption. Solutions for water resource management are integrated, such as rainwater harvesting systems for garden irrigation and other non-potable uses, along with technologies for renewable energy utilization, such as solar panels for clean and sustainable energy production. The surrounding landscape is enhanced employing sustainable landscaping practices, such as the selection of native plants and the reduction of harmful chemical usage.
The house boasts several strengths that make it unique and captivating. Its location immersed in the enchanting countryside of Noto provides a tranquil atmosphere and an opportunity to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. The construction is strategically positioned to offer breathtaking panoramic views of the sea, allowing residents to admire the magnificence of the Sicilian coast. Another distinctive element of the villa is its design, which combines Sicilian tradition with contemporary elegance. The juxtaposed volumes and internal courtyard reflect the ancient architectural tradition of Sicily, creating a harmonious fusion of past and present. The interiors are meticulously curated, with careful attention to the quality of materials and spatial distribution. The sleeping area is separated from the living area by glass-walled corridors that also extend to the roof, connecting volumes at different levels. Each room is equipped with a bathroom, wardrobe, and an exclusive terrace to fully enjoy a private outdoor area. The porch ideally extends the large living room to the outside, with a large glass window opening onto the Sicilian countryside. Walls and floors take on the same color and texture, almost as if to express the intention of recreating a compact, solid volume, constructed with local materials that evoke the use of raw earth.
The house is conceived as a tranquil oasis, surrounded by ample green spaces that serve as a natural shield. This allows for the enjoyment of privacy away from prying eyes, creating an atmosphere of relaxation and intimacy. The outdoor spaces, such as the gardens and terraces, are designed to create a living experience in harmony with the natural environment that surrounds them.
The Sicilian architect started his career in the 80s as an interior designer of commercial spaces in most of the Italian territory. After several work experiences founded Studio Puleo Architettura, focusing his attention on the detail and the meticulous materials choice at the base of his design philosophy.
The result is a rational architecture that stands out for the harmonious combination of aesthetics and functionality, balancing between local craftsmanship and contemporary taste, respecting the context of the work. The studio operates both on a national and international level and develops hospitality, residential, retail, health, urban and interior design projects.
