The buildings are located in Bologna, a city that hosts an important university settlement, where
a large number of students come from abroad and from other Italian regions, which requires the provision of a high number of accommodation places is necessary.
The area in question is located near the university, in particular near the offices in via Zamboni and is also easily accessible by public transport and rail, in order to guarantee students the necessary conditions for staying in the city where the university is located.
The properties are located specifically near the "Cirenaica", where the Sant'Orsola Malpighi university hospital center is located, seat of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Bologna, which constitutes an element of attraction of national importance and affects both the related to mobility and to the composition of the population.
The two buildings, a few tens of meters away from each other, were erected within two lots previously free from other constructions where in the past, never completed building work was started. Inside the two new structures there will be rooms for students, common areas for studying, collective kitchens and spaces dedicated to leisure and physical activity, as well as interview rooms, multipurpose sharing spaces, laundries, offices for staff and rooms for service.
The intervention is located in an area that, due to its location, will favor the social and cultural integration of students into city life and the nearby university area.
The function of the student residence is perfectly consistent with the surroundings, giving the sector
a functional and fruitive homogeneity. The planivolumetric distribution of the building was
designed in such a way as to guarantee the greatest living and environmental comfort.
The building in via Berlinguer consists of 4 floors above ground: the ground floor, where the common functions are housed, and three upper floors which house a total of 10 nuclei integrated with 6 accommodation places each.
The integrated core type is composed as follows
- 4 single rooms
- 1 double room (or 1 double room for disabled people) with dedicated bathroom
- 2 bathrooms
- 1 living room / kitchen
The project involves the construction of an underground garage, three large cycle depots divided between the car park and the part intended for their maintenance and cleaning (equipped with work spaces, counters and recharging sockets) and an outdoor area that alternates green and paved areas. , with seating and street furniture.
The building is covered with a shaved EPS coat and the darkening of the rooms takes place through
external sliding panels, in painted metal material.
The building in via Cencetti consists of 4 floors above ground: the ground floor, where the common functions are housed, and three upper floors that house common rooms and kitchens on each floor.
The standard plan is composed as follows:
- 8 single rooms with bathroom
- 1 single room for disabled people
- 1 double room
- 1 common floor kitchen
- 1 common bathroom for disabled people
The building also has an underground level that adds to and completes a garage
existing common to the neighboring buildings, a large room for bicycle parking, as well as green outdoor spaces alternating with paved areas. The building is characterized externally by a light-colored coat finish, diversified only on the ground floor with portions in dark tones in correspondence with the porticoed part.
The architectural and plant design of the building was aimed at maximizing internal comfort and minimizing energy consumption both during the winter heating period and during the summer cooling period.
Both buildings are in class A4 and made with the latest technologies on the market.
From the plant engineering point of view, water saving was addressed through the use of all the latest discoveries to limit water waste and for the building in via Cencetti, a system for collecting rainwater from the roofs to be used for the dual network was also created. addressed to toilet cisterns (non-potable use) since, unlike the building in via Berlinguer, there are no green areas that allow their use.
For renewable sources there is a photovoltaic system with latest generation panels and inverters, in order to reduce electricity consumption especially in the summer months where its maximum yield is expected combined with higher electricity consumption due to air conditioning. The whole structure is equipped with the most modern technologies for reducing consumption, from LED lighting with automatic adjustment to water saving systems and efficient heat production. Finally, intelligent management via BMS and advanced home automation allow you to have absolute control over savings and plant optimization.
