Yantai Vanke Sales Center creates a more suitable lifestyle

This project located in a coastal city, surrounded by mountains and rivers. The client hoped that this beautiful and unique scene and cozy local lifestyle could be considered in the design. The designers observed the space with dialectical mind and searched for notions and elements to translate the characteristics of site background and depict the lifestyle of the locals. The project was shortlisted for The SBID International Design Award 2019.

This project is located in Yantai mountain area with beautiful natural scenery, which far away from busy streets but still involved with local culture and lifestyle. Since this space would be used as neighborhood activity room for the residents here afterwards, the designers especially considered the living and emotional needs of residents when researching and designing the project. Based on the location, this project was designed to meet the requirements of people from the busy modern city who was seeking some place to stay with mountains and nature, which quiet and cozy.

The chandelier above the sand table is like ripples, and the metal of the reception desk and the water droplet shape lamp subtly integrate the abstract concept of nature into the space. The designer expressed the characteristics of the project location in an abstract way by design elements, creating a display space that profoundly depicts the lifestyle of mountain dwelling place. Rhythmic lines were used a lot to imply the curves of mountains and add spatial agility. From the entrance, the space design considered the integrity and deliberated progressive layout at the same time, with some space broad and bright while some space quiet and private. With the changes and contrasts, the whole space would bring more emotional feeling and imagination. A lot of dialectical considerations are put into the complementarity between natural features and the functionality and artistry of urban public space, seeking the balance between "new" and "old", "inheritance" and "expression". The design has realized an ideal landscape of mountain dwelling life in the background of modern life. It retained the essence of tranquility and detachment that should be possessed by the mountain resort space without separating itself from people's functional requirements for the comfort and convenience of living space, which is organic and full of spirituality.

Natural stone was selected as the main material, combined with the richly textured wood, dark wood veneer and archaize brick which close to the cultural style. The involvement of metal has made the space broad and clear. What’s more, the performance of moisture proof and durability are strictly considered and checked to ensure that the space could adapt to the humid and capricious climate in the mountain area.

The soft outfit design of the first floor mainly uses the deep gray color and leather material. The abstract mountain geometry sculpture and round-moon-shaped chandelier create quite and cozy atmosphere for the space, which could help visitors find the comfort and happiness of mountain life. The children's area is one of the highlights of the second floor space, and the lighting hanging in the midair is inspired by the starry sky, creating romantic and relaxing feeling. The soft outfit of shared region is also impressive. Memphis style sofa and bright color scheme make the space quite different from traditional style of sales center. The space is full of design sense and imagination, which inspires visitors’ imagination and interest of living in such mountain dwelling place with their family. The artistic installations and decorations in the space are also created and displayed our design team, which add add a sense of fashion and modernism to the space in the terms of detail and emphasize the close connection between space design and people's emotion and lifestyle.

SWS Group has created a cultural leisure space that is different from the traditional sales exhibition space, and created a more suitable lifestyle of mountain residence for modern people.
