VM Zinc has participated in the project
The Vallelunga Congress Centre in the province of Rome is sited exactly at the mid-point of the “Piero Taruffi” motor racing track on a rise in the land around which the circuit winds. To plans by Roberto Pirazzini and Giovanna Battistini, the building dialogues with its surrounds - rolling countryside and a race track wedged between the hills - and captures the contradictions. The idea of the project was to echo the curvature of the landscape in the main hall roof; the materials would partly borrow from nature and partly hint at the modern technology of a race-track. While indoors is prevalently in warm wood, outside the choice went for materials and colours that would make a statement of modernity and hi-tech. Thus the roof was lined by Tecnoimage of Martignacco (UD) with pre-weathered Vm Zinc titanium zinc in the Quartz-Zinc finish: a light grey that mimics the natural patina the metal assumes after years of exposure to the weather.
The curtain walls were clad in stoneware tavelle and dark-grey Anthra-Zinc pre-weathered zinc shingles which closely resemble natural slate in colouring. Complete with a transparent neutral T.O.C. paint (Thin Organic Coating), Anthra-Zinc is eminently suitable for façade cladding and interior design motifs.
