It’s always heartening to see a new city venue where people can come together for whatever reason.
Techno Souq is the name we have given to the segment of Via Santa Radegonda in the centre of Milan now turned into a covered passage by a series of floating sails. Set at different angles to seem swollen by the wind, the awnings are also inclined so as to channel rainwater into the huge vases of plants lining the street. The light colour of the sails filters daylight during the day. At night the illumination creates an inviting venue for the many events scheduled around Expo.
Installation was complex since the whole structure could only be fixed to the one wall belonging to department store la Rinascente. The solution devised was a series of steel cables supporting the differently angled aluminium sail frames.
