Flaminio Stadium earns the Getty Foundation's Grant

The Getty Foundation in Los Angeles through its program Keeping it Modern, initiated in 2014 to support pilot conservation projects of the fragile architectural heritage of the XXth Century, has awarded a grant of $180,000 to Sapienza University in Rome for the development of a Conservation Plan for the Flaminio Stadium in Rome built in 1959 by Pier Luigi and Antonio Nervi, for the 1960's Olympic Games, today in an advanced state of decay. The generous grant has been awarded to the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of the Sapienza University of Rome, the Pier Luigi Nervi Project Associationand DO.CO.MO.MO Italy, in agreement with the City of Rome. 
Among the twelve modern buildings selected this year by the Keeping it Modern program we can find Museu de Arte di São Paulo by Lina Bo Bardi, the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh by Le Corbusier, the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo by Kenzo Tange, the Melnikov House in Moscow and the Bauhaus building in Dessau by Walter Gropius.
