Senhora da Hora House: an essential and elegant villa in Portugal
By Editorial Staff -

The distinctive white of Mediterranean architecture distinguishes Senhora da Hora House, a private home designed by Raulino Arquitecto. The home takes its name from the eponymous Portuguese town, located in the municipality of Matosinhos, not far from the city of Porto.

The color reflects the traditional white of Portuguese houses, with their sunbathed clean, regular shapes. The interior features equally regular rooms, designed with clear, precise lines, enriched by the alternating shades of light wood and white stucco.

Facing south on the lower level is a double garage and the main entrance, leading to the stairs. The kitchen, laundry, and bathroom are at the back of the home, overlooking a garden with a heated swimming pool and a timber deck.

Upstairs at the front, are two bedrooms and an office. The bathroom is located towards the back of the home and overlooks a patio. The master bedroom with its ensuite bathroom and dressing room is also at the back. It’s connected to a central terrace, which brings natural light into the corridor and stairway.

The strength of this design lies in its essentiality, with sunlight used to emphasize its presence. Even the lighting at night underscores the elegant lines of its elevations, making the building a pleasant home with a natural feel.
