Omnitex has participated in the project

The new Segreen Business Park management centre is the result of upgrading an existing complex at the gates of Milan, as part of the Lombardini 22 project. The operation involved cladding three main buildings in glass. With their 30,000 sq m they will contain offices, while a fourth is destined for hotel and catering services. The project emphasizes environmental sustainability, with a view to achieving LEED Gold and CENED class A certification. From the planning stage Omnitex were here enlisted for their experience in finding the ideal sun-screening solution. To regulate heat and light radiation and cut down the energy requirement, they suggested differentiating the façade brise-soleil systems according to orientation. The glazed outer walls facing south were equipped with “Omnitex-sis-rulmotE-001” roll blinds for exteriors, complete with a circular-section aluminium protection box, a tubular motor and side stays of stainless steel cable fixed to structural façade columns at custom-built mechanical interfaces.
To achieve a good trade-off between thermal yield, view from indoors and degree of light filtering through, the blinds were made of Mermet Sunscreen Satiné 5500 outdoor filtering fabric which is fibre-glass-based and coated in PVC. The colour here came from mixing grey, charcoal-grey and linen threads in the weave.
