EVO SIT&STAND CORRECT POSTURE AT WORK
By Editorial Staff -

Estel’s Evo range of desks was created to adopt the latest ideas in ergonomics that recommend moving between standing and sitting positions as an optimal health, comfort and productivity solution at work. Frequent movement and changes in position have been shown to improve physical and mental wellbeing, helping to overcome the problems - especially metabolic, bone and joint, and cardiovascular - caused by maintaining one posture. It has been shown that both sitting and standing for excessive periods can be harmful to health. Cornell University Ergonomics (ergo.human.cornell.edu) has conducted studies to determine the optimal solution and now recommends sitting for 20 minutes (with good posture), then working while standing for 8 minutes before stretching or walking for 2 minutes. These recommendations are at the basis of the Evo system, which has the option to lower or raise the desk top, moving from 70 cm for Sit to 118 cm for Stand. It becomes exceptionally simple to shift between working while sitting and then standing, at one workstation. A motorized mechanism, controlled by a button on the front or top of the desk, allows synchronous raising and lowering of the support columns, making it a pleasure to switch between working positions. Evo’s design is simple and linear, but also caters for differing configurations of workstations through a range of accessories and partition panels that can be in glass or - if more privacy is required - various colored fabrics. The Evo system was recently installed in the offices of BPM, an Italian bank, in cooperation with the London-based Gensler practice.
