GSE Italia has participated in the project

The new DIMO / Euronics headquarters in Vercelli, in Italy’s north-eastern Piedmont region, stands on the site already occupied by the company’s distribution centre, strategically close to the motorway. The building design was entirely developed by the general contractor GSE Italia, which managed the whole integrated construction process - from the “design to cost” project through to “turn-key” delivery of the building. The practice FOR Engineering Architecture was asked to realize the interior fit-out and oversee the project development from an architectural point of view.  Completed in 8 months, the 3-storey, 4,500 square metre complex comprises offices, a conference hall, training rooms and a company canteen. An architectural programme with state-of-the-art workspace distribution ensures environment sustainability as well as occupant comfort. Interior divisions provide for enclosed individual and group offices and open space areas.
Thanks to 37% glazing on all outer perimeter façades and inner elevations overlooking a tree-planted court, all interiors benefit from good natural daylighting. Internally, acoustic comfort is assured with 110 mm double-glazed partition walls. The boardroom, conference hall and classrooms are lined with soundproofing material with a sound dampening capability of 40 - 50 dB. Energy efficiency is achieved with active and passive systems that put the building in the Class A category with an Energy Performance Index of 9.9 kWh/m3 year. The building envelope delivers excellent thermal insulation: opaque surfaces have thermal transmittance values of 0.24 W/m2K; transparent elevations achieve 1.75 W/m2K. HVAC systems comprise heat pump and fan coils in false ceilings and LED lighting. A photovoltaic plant on the roof produces 220,000 KWh per year to meet some 90% of the building’s electricity requirement.
A Building Management System allows centralized temperature, shutter and lighting control, enhancing occupant comfort while at the same time saving energy. GSE Italia’s long general-contractor experience in office and industrial buildings and R&D laboratories allowed the company to manage this complex brief smoothly, combining the many technical and logistic requirements involved in a project of this complexity, to the full satisfaction of the client.
