CASA MT: a modern, elegant restyling
By Editorial Staff -

Casa MT grew out of the restoration of a farm building in rural Faenza, province of Ravenna, in the Po Valley. While the setting itself imposed no constraints, the local authorities requested that, where possible, all historical and construction features that reflect the local agricultural tradition should be retained. Prioritizing the preservation of the existing building type led to demolition and rebuilding work to restore it, along with most of its windows in their original positions. The interiors, on the other hand, were completely redesigned, taking advantage of the spaces, diagonal views, and double-height entrance. Traditional materials were used, including brick, lime plaster, and timber. Other architectural elements were chosen to recapture the building’s historical rural appearance, including shutters flush with the plaster walls and typical farmhouse jalousies. Wood is a recurring theme, particularly in the interior details, such as the larch staircase, the roof beams, and the flooring on the first floor.
The garden was also included in the overall design project. Trees planted at regular intervals were added to the existing plant life to reflect the surrounding landscape.
