The Sir Joan Hotel is a five-star boutique hotel in Ibiza, near the marina, with a view of the old city. The building was designed by Ribas & Ribas Arquitectos, with Baranowitz + Kronenberg taking charge of the interior design. Conceptually, the hotel draws on the local sailing culture and alludes to yacht life. The building rises four floors, with the reception, lounge and two restaurants - Izakaya and The Butcher - located on the ground floor. These spaces open onto a dining area around the pool, with various relaxation areas. The second, third and fourth floors have 36 rooms, each facing outwards with one or more balconies that create an articulated volume. On each floor, the 12 rooms differ in layout and size, creating architectural variety that increases the range of choices offered to guests. The top floor is taken up by two suites, each with a large private terrace, various living areas and an enviable view of the sea and old center. Paolo Castelli S.p.A. was the general contractor, overseeing the interior fittings, and creating custom furnishings and claddings for the rooms and ground-floor common areas. The company also coordinated any building and installation work related to its own specific brief. The choice of materials is extremely diverse, playing on combinations of wood and metal, with the addition of marble for the bathrooms and restrooms. The ground floor entrance is characterized by the combination of American walnut parquet and a false ceiling with metallic panels with a mirror finish. The undulating steel bar counter and the hammered plate paneling add to the maritime effect. On the upper floors, the corridors are a marine turquoise and reflect the light effects created by the hammered plate panels on the ceiling. The rooms also have walnut parquet and hammered plate paneling, reflecting the design choices on the entrance level. The climax of the design is the two top-floor suites,
