Restyling of Pisa Orologeria

Shape to Beauty

Restyling of Pisa Orologeria

Milan’s fashionable Via Montenapoleone is the backdrop for the Pisa Orologeria store, a refined watch boutique spread across three floors that has multiple spaces in which to welcome customers and enthusiasts.
The recent restyling was the work of Plattner Mezzanotte Architetti and embraced a
300 sq. m area, from the basement level right up to the top-floor terrace. The project also provided further evidence of the flourishing relationship between the architectural practice and barth, a company from South Tyrol that handled the customized design and furnishing of the exhibition and sales areas back in 2008 and the subsequent partial restylings in 2015 and 2017.

Prestigious materials such as travertine, Canaletto walnut, velvets and mirrors abound in the sales and service spaces, bringing renewed, welcoming warmth to these fluid, elegant and yet pleasant environments.

The boutique’s focal point is the spiral staircase that connects the different levels and the designers chose to really make it the dominant element by cladding the inner and outer sides with panels covered in a gold metallic paint and then adding a solid walnut handrail.

Travertine and walnut feature prominently in the furnishings. The sales tables and display cabinets have naturally soft shapes, but the addition of grooving emphasizes this, while also creating a unity with the wall paneling in the same materials and finishes.

Barth also created interior and exterior niches and display cases, glass railings, doors and wardrobe furniture, wood and brass ceilings and travertine flooring.

A sense of chromatic and material homogeneousness accompanies visitors as they move through the various floors of this boutique that overlooks Via Montenapoleone on one side and a green courtyard on the interior side.
A large wall-mounted lightbox – another barth creation – provides a symbolic view of Milan and its skyline.

The well-established relationship between barth and Pisa Orologeria proved fundamental in giving practical form to every detail in a project that truly represents the identity of the brand and the customer. As Chiara Fiorentino of Pisa Orologeria noted, “Trust and professionalism are values that Pisa Orologeria relies on to establish solid and lasting partnerships. Barth embodies these values, combining them in a service of excellence that helps us shape our idea of beauty”.
