Residencia Oslo: a private, peaceful refuge in the heart of Paris

In the highest point of Paris, Residencia Oslo is a peaceful refuge for its residents far from the hustle and bustle of city life. In keeping with his distinctive design style, Christophe Rousselle, who collaborated with Jean Philippe Marre on the project, has created a building in his own hometown with a distinctive, uniquely cubic design. Combined with perforated modular façades, the design provides total protection from the outside while offering filtered glimpses of the interior spaces and their understated aesthetic.

The architects paid particular attention to the sustainability of this project, aiming to minimize its environmental impact and limiting the use of concrete to only where necessary. As a result, only the interior walls between units and the floor slabs are concrete. This meets structural and acoustic needs, without compromising living comfort. Meanwhile, the opaque walls are timber.

With a total area of 660 m2, the building uses a flat-plate construction system, with no beams, to create uniform, flexible interiors. The timber sunshading integrates perfectly with the windows, helping to create bright, welcoming spaces.

The building’s doors and windows have timber frames and large glass surfaces, which, in combination with vertical slat shutters, delicately filter light while ensuring privacy from prying eyes outside. This interplay of transparency and shade enriches the living experience of the building, allowing residents to enjoy natural light at any time of the day.
