OPPO’s new ‘green’ headquarters in Shenzhen, China designed by Zaha Hadid Architects [ZHA] (London / United Kingdom) will soon join its existing 6 research institutes, 4 research and development centers and 1 global design studio to grow the organization’s commitment to connectivity through design.

Who is Oppo

Since the launch of their first phone in 2008, OPPO is quickly becoming China’s foremost smartphone manufacturer with more than 40,000 employees across more than 40 countries. This communication technology leader is the 5th largest in the world.

The Oppo's Tower

A recent international competition awarded the winning project to ZHA’s 4 interconnected towers that exploit the views of the Shenzhen Bay. The 200m [656 ft. 2 in.] structure includes 2 open-plan towers connected by a 20-storey lobby in addition to 2 service towers that house its vertical circulation. The tapering towers lean inwards toward their bases creating public gathering spaces at street level.

Visual connectivity is maximized with large atriums to foster collaboration between the various departments of the organization. The atriums are swathed with natural light and provide a wide-range of working environments. Passages allow inhabitants to explore and encourage engagement across diverse populations.

Oppo’s headquarters provides the city with a walkway through its center that includes a mixed use of landscaped plaza, art gallery, shops, restaurants, and link to the neighboring Shenzhen’s subway network. The structure’s 10th floor offers local residents, visitors and OPPO staff an array of dining, entertainment and leisure options. The community can gather and enjoy the magnificent views of Shenzhen on the rooftop Sky Plaza.

The plan for this eco-friendly landmark is a groundbreaking in late 2021 and an opening in early 2025. The target for the new OPPO headquarters is LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.
