Inside an elegant 19th-century building in Milan’s exclusive fashion district, a recent renovation has created a light and airy exhibition space that achieves a remarkable combination of allowing the products on display to stand out while simultaneously blending in organically. The building has a stately façade and a large courtyard, but beyond these, the Meridiani showroom welcomes visitors in its quiet, sophisticated spaces. The creation of the showroom focused on producing a neutral and flexible environment, while preserving the original structure and exalting the symmetry that underscores the floor plan. This work, conceived by Andrea Parisio with assistance from Giuseppe Pezzano, produced a space in which visitors are taken on a journey of home life, exploring living, dining and bedroom areas. It is a trip through rounded sofas, minimalist tables and chairs, slender shelves, refined sculptures, round coffee tables, lamps as delicate as origami or quite imposing, with a touch of the moon, leaving visitors with the clear feeling that each furnishing accessory on display is expertly highlighted to enhance the Made-in-Italy flavor of Meridiani products.

At the heart of achieving this was the studied use of lighting – and the positioning of the corresponding switches from Vimar’s Linea series – to highlight every detail and draw visitors into a far more immersive experience. The architectural elements that truly characterize the showroom and become its stylistic signature are a spiral staircase – the link between the two floors across which the nearly 500 sq. m of the store extend – and a large circular skylight, both defined by elegant, sinuous lines.

In this white, elegant space, the discreet forms of Linea are a natural fit, adding to the overall sense of embracing harmony. As an exhibition space, it is in a constant state of flux, with periodic changes in furniture and accessories. As such, the light, flat design of Vimar’s switches offers the ideal classic and harmonious style, able to blend in with the environment regardless of the changes. The By-me Plus home automation system complements and optimizes the management of temperature and lighting, controlling when they are on and their intensity, and can be operated using the View app or the discreet white touchscreens installed on the walls. This function ensures constant control of the atmosphere in the room and its lighting, selecting the most favorable conditions to guarantee the ideal conditions for appreciating the furniture on display.
