Marchiol, a company specialized in the supply of electrical equipment, has its logistics center and offices in Roncade, a strategic location between the Adriatic sea and Treviso. The construction of this complex was entrusted to GSE Group as general contractor. With the aim of bringing together the functional, technological and esthetic aspects of the design, as per the client’s brief, the building has a built area of 40,000 sq. m, of which 35,000 is for the warehouse and about 4,500 for offices. The project was entrusted by GSE Italy to Alfaluda, an architectural and engineering studio, which managed to integrate the industrial style of the place, with the need for the complex to fit seamlessly into a rural environment and be a place where Marchiol could receive clients.

The building’s exterior is characterized by alternating white and anthracite panels and is topped by a reflective flat white roof. Inside, the building is designed to maximize employee comfort by using natural lighting and ventilation and, where necessary, artificial systems for air exchange and soundproofing. In addition, to visually unify the hub’s logistics space and office area, uniform industrial-style flooring was used internally. Finally, in line with the client’s request, priority was given to minimizing the impact on the landscape and the environment. To create a buffer against flooding during heavy storms, reservoirs were placed along the north and east sides of the site and a “green lung” was also created around the entire perimeter of the building by planting new trees.

In line with the integrated procurement model, GSE provided a single point of contact for the entire project, working closely with the client and the architects to develop a synergy that made it possible to achieve ambitious goals. At a time in the history of the world that is heavily influenced by the repercussions of the war in Ukraine, the value engineering carried out by GSE Group made it possible to optimize the timing and the technologies used, without increasing the costs for the client, and even to complete the work ahead of schedule.
