Immaterial Parapets for Sculptural Volumes
Covering 366,000 sq. m, CityLife is one of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe, overhauling Milan’s historic trade fair district. Sustainability and quality of life are at the heart of the project, offering a balanced mix of public and private services. The residential areas, designed by Zaha Hadid and Daniel Libeskind, feature houses that push the limits of residential energy efficiency through the use of renewable sources, as well as solutions to guarantee optimal home safety, including products from Gonzato Group. Characterized by simple volumes, the units of the second lot of Libeskind Residences reinterpret the classic model of the courtyard, in a combination of tradition and innovation that gives each of the three buildings a sculptural effect that is echoed by the elegant, discreet glass balustrades from Gonzato Group.
The architects chose Glass-U system, on which the latest generation Glass-U P2 profile was installed with floor anchoring, so as to guarantee maximum safety when using the terraces and balconies. The Ace-Block® and Level Control® mounting and adjustment systems were also used, along with an integrated system of drainage gutters for perfect water drainage. The final part is the aluminum handrail from the Evolution series: at only 20 mm thick, it epitomizes a minimalist design characterized by square lines and sharp angles and so perfectly matches the architectural concept of prestigious Milanese residences. Gonzato Group’s solutions not only ensured quick and flawless installation, but also guarantee that the residents of each of the 101 apartments can enjoy the open spaces in complete tranquility, taking full advantage of the views of the surrounding landscape.
