Bianchi Headquarters
The entire history of the company runs through this project. The deep focus on people and the environment is palpable. But the project also draws parallels with the automotive world, looking decisively toward the future. In June 2024, the historic bicycle brand Bianchi inaugurated its new headquarters in Treviglio, in the province of Bergamo: a true home with a spirit that is both innovative and resilient, while also a clear signal of urban regeneration. Designed by Studio Domus, the 18,000-sq. m facility brings together the production area – divided into six zones, from initial assembly to final quality control and packaging – and a showroom that traces the company’s history, displaying iconic models alongside its latest-generation offerings. The entire design is centered on people and the environment, as reflected in highly ergonomic workstations, digital systems that optimize production processes and job rotation strategies that support employee well-being.
And everything is complemented by tools
for monitoring environmental impact.
For access control and personnel management, the company turned to dormakaba, which developed an integrated, real-time monitoring system. Smartphones and around 500 RFID badges are used to provide fast, secure access to the various areas of the facility. Dormakaba 9620 terminals were installed at strategic entry points, while 9104 BLE readers were positioned at production stations to authenticate production machines and enable operator identification and tracking. A dedicated reader also manages access to personal protective equipment. At the core of the integrated access management system is Exos 9300 software, which connects all the dormakaba terminals and devices – including additional readers and turnstiles – allowing access data to be centrally managed in real time. This comprehensive, integrated setup guarantees a high level of security while streamlining internal movement, resulting in a truly advanced, safe and smart production environment.
Here, innovation and Industry 5.0 standards are woven into the very fabric of the company’s legacy. Every corner of the building is designed to evoke tradition, with architectural details inspired by mid-century industrial plants – notably the iconic sawtooth roof that lets in plenty of natural light – embodying the concept of a “factory-museum” that honors Bianchi’s roots and achievements.
