Transparent Connections
Completed in 2019, the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj enjoys a strategic spot in the Mediterranean, right near the small harbor in Rovinj. Designed by 3LHD and Lissoni Associati, the hotel was designed to operate throughout the year. It has six floors and 209 guest rooms, various restaurants and boutique stores, a conference hall and a sweeping lobby that was conceived as the heart of the city’s business hotel and the hub for many of the facilities the hotel offers guests. The complex is immersed in a lush pine grove and the original design of the building, with false terraces, projections and green roofs, was carefully developed by the architects to ensure the hotel merges seamlessly into the surrounding nature.
The Grand Park Hotel is strategically located, with an enviable view of the seafront, the old city center and Katarina island. Its already desirable position is accentuated by the use of Ipasol ultraselect 62/29 glass from AGC Glass Europe for the façade, with elevated sun protection.
This glass has limited light reflection that makes its beautifully transparent, allowing in plenty of natural light, but at the same time, it provides good levels of thermal insulation and user comfort.
With light transmission of 62 and a solar factor of 29%, the glass chosen for the façades of Grand Park Hotel Rovinj has an excellent selectivity rating such that the light gets in, but the solar energy is blocked. It is this characteristic, combined with the ability to customize the size of panes, that really added to the visual connections between the internal environments and the incredible panorama outside.
