Zumtobel Group has participated in the project

Located in the Certosa district of Milan, Designtech’s CoFactory is part of a larger urban regeneration project, offering a state-of-the-art workspace that seamlessly blends design, technology and collaboration. Led by Pininfarina Architecture, the project embodies a harmonious fusion of esthetics, functionality and environmental concerns in which the quality of workspaces is prioritized to transform them into a vibrant ecosystem where innovation and the exchange of ideas thrive. Central to this transformation is the meticulous design of the artificial lighting and the integration of natural lighting – along with careful attention to air and sound quality – with Zumtobel Lighting products proving particularly effective in meeting the project’s specific requirements. To illuminate the CoFactory’s work areas, particularly those without direct access to natural light, Double Dynamic Lighting principles were applied. This approach blends accent lighting with diffused lighting to create a dynamic environment that stimulates creativity and enhances performance. The second floor features systems capable of providing circadian lighting, all within a minimalist and elegant design. Multifunctional systems were installed in the break areas to increase versatility and livability, while also improving acoustic comfort. In the production area, the Tecton system was installed – a versatile solution with an 11-pole trunking system that serves as the basis for general lighting, with the potential to integrate security lighting and digital services. Outside, Thorn Lighting’s architectural collections are used. Smart building management systems enhance the adaptability of each environment, enabling seamless adaptation to different operational needs through versatile lighting solutions. The overall design approach aims to push the boundaries of workplace innovation by integrating technology and design with a strong emphasis on well-being, in line with Zumtobel Group’s general philosophy. With sustainability in mind, the project involved the careful selection of green materials and energy-efficient technologies, favoring replicable solutions that find a workable balance of economic development, technological advancement and environmental protection.
