Located in the old, upper part of Bergamo, the Life Source hospitality complex, designed by Leonardo Togni, is an outstanding blend of sustainability, technological innovation and esthetics. The building features a striking glass and steel façade and welcomes visitors with an entrance highlighted by a cantilevered overhang and complemented by a decorative water feature.

Inside, Life Source houses four main units: Life Hotel, with 126 rooms; Life Source Food Experience, consisting of a gourmet restaurant, a bistro and a rooftop venue; the Wellness Center, “just a step away from the sky”; and finally, Life Clinic, equipped with an operating room for minor to moderately complex surgical procedures.

The choice of the name “Life Source” is far from random: the building was designed to offer innovative and sustainable solutions throughout its entire lifecycle. Due to its focused efforts on energy and water conservation, the building has earned LEED Gold certification.

This commitment to sustainability is further evident in the smart building automation system, featuring Vimar’s Well-contact Plus technology developed on the KNX standard, which facilitates smart and sustainable hospitality. Functions such as check-in and check-out, occupancy status notifications, technical and emergency alerts, and control of lighting and temperature are all programmable and managed from reception, which becomes the central operations hub. Additionally, the system oversees access control at the parking gate, supported by the Tab 7S IP hands-free white indoor video intercom and the Pixel two-button external panel from the Elvox Video Intercom system. Such smart technology makes life easier for staff and more enjoyable for guests.

For the Life Source project, the Well-contact Plus system is esthetically coordinated with the Eikon civilian series with Arké Classic and Tactil controls. The Arké Classic series with a Reflex Smoke Gray cover plate, gray controls and customized symbols fits seamlessly into this contemporary environment with its rational geometry and sleek linear profile. For the card readers outside the rooms, Eikon Tactil was chosen, featuring a pure crystal surface that protrudes only a few millimeters from the wall, making its presence almost imperceptible. The backlit LED symbols inform staff when a guest does not wish to be disturbed or, conversely, when assistance is requested for room servicing.

Life Source aims to live up to its name, offering diverse experiences with an eco-sustainable vision that combines comfort, design and energy saving, partly through Vimar automation systems.
