Ceramiche Refin has participated in the project

Refin has joined forces with the visual and graphic communication practice Studio FM Milano to create Frame, a new tile collection that brings together the latest manufacturing technologies with graphic experimentation. The result is a new way of looking at the floor, drawing inspiration for materials, items and proposals from the past. Frame tiles are 60x60 cm and come in four options: Geometric, Majolica, Carpet and Weave. The Geometric line unites the azulejo tradition with the typical look of blueprints and autocad libraries. Thin lines create the shapes that, by playing with scale, produce complex, elegant patterns. Majolica returns to a traditional field for ceramic tile work, but deconstructs and recreates it by reinterpreting the colours and juxtaposing patterns with different scales. The result is dynamic and emotive. Carpet takes Bauhaus and the work of textile artist Anni Albers as its benchmarks, yet the finished product also recalls wooden tangrams or kaleidoscopic compositions. Weave is quite loosely inspired by Shibori, an ancient Japanese way of making patterns. Here, sinuous and elegant optical illusions are created by varying forms and tones, resulting in tiles that recreate the same movement found in such fabrics.
