Baugruppe: a contemporary, family-friendly renovation
By Editorial Staff -

No Architects was responsible for the renovation of Baugruppe, a three-story historic building that’s now the dream home of three families who were looking for a comfortable place to live with easy access to the city.

The building, which includes a garden, is just a few meters from a subway station, making it a perfect place to combine a quiet family life with the demands of work and the benefits of the city.

No Architects designed three independent apartments, one for each family, one on each floor. The basement was also enlarged to accommodate common areas, including a laundry, storage rooms, and an entertainment room.

The 1930s structure was fully refurbished, but without losing any of its unique personality. New window openings were added to improve the symmetry of the front elevation and restore the compositional coherence lost after thermal cladding was installed.

A new garden design was also included in the project. The garage was demolished and replaced by cycle shelters and a shared garden shed.

Each apartment has been designed to both reflect the original plan and suit the lifestyle of each family.
