Parquet History and Innovation

CP Parquet began life as a local timber supplier in 1962, but in the space of only a few decades, it grew into a major wooden floor manufacturer in the pre-finished floor industry. Much of this success can be put down to working with three-layer floors, a technology that was relatively unknown at the time in Italy and that led to the creation of the Antico Asolo three-ply, large-size collection. Now, with 30 years of relevant experience in its pocket, CP Parquet has a veritable display case of quality certifications and it is a member of Best Up (a leading association for the promotion of sustainable living). At the same time, it is striving ever more for environmentally friendly and energy saving solutions, as is shown by the new photovoltaic installations at the Veneto plant that provide much of the power needed by the complex. In a similar vein, the choice of wood has shifted towards recyclable products made using renewable resources that are treated with natural oil-based coatings and water-based varnishes with incredibly low VOC emissions. Perhaps the best example of these efforts is the TÜV-PROFiCERT product interior certification, as it provides a guarantee the product is not harmful to health and it is a quality product.

The flooring solutions are based on combinations of two or three-ply wooden floorboards that are assembled using solvents with very low formaldehyde emissions. The high quality, visible top layer is 5 mm thick. The final varnishing is applied as a film and then the boards are “baked” in a UV oven to make them more robust and scratch resistant. The floors can also be treated with a natural, water-based varnish that sanitizes the wood of germs and bacteria - a treatment that, during the current
COVID-19 pandemic, is included with every order at no extra charge. The special treatments that draw out the veins in the wood make contemporary tones and refined shapes the ideal solutions for such parquet. The company continues to press forward with innovation, backing the manufacturing line with its own Cp Parquet Lab Design, a creative workshop that is seeking new ways to use floorboards in amazing furnishing and design solutions. Artisan traditions are also very important, playing a leading role in aspects like planing, staining and creating a woodworm effect.

Such options require craft mastery and precision to achieve the desired decorative effects, as can perhaps best be seen in the stunning Forme collection. This is a special range in which different colors and shapes are combined in original compositions to create modern modular patterns. For example, the Canestro (Basket) line uses a hexagonal shape to produce an effect that recalls traditional hand-woven raffia baskets. The collection has a range of patterns - Cubo/Cube, Intreccio/Weave, Spina Traversa/Herringbone and Prisma/Prism -
that can be customized by choosing the type of wood from among select and rustic European oak, European and American walnut, rustic European elm and Burma teak.
