Manni Group provides innovative systems, products and expertise for the dry construction sector, offering solutions to reduce energy waste and polluting emissions from existing building stock. For both new buildings and retrofits, the company becomes a partner for real-estate firms and architectural practices, using its sustainability principles and substantial building experience to add value to any project.
Over the last 75 years, the group has moved with the market, adapting to globalization and embracing the circular economy philosophy. In practical terms, this can be seen in, say, how steel is processed (100% recyclable) or how products are manufactured to play their part in a building earning prestigious LEED or BREEAM certification, and to meet national Minimum Environmental Criteria. The company also files the Environmental Product Declaration, and in addition its LEAF and Green Roof products have earned the Declare label from the International Living Future Institute (ILFI).
The companies in the group include: Isopan, which manufactures insulating metal panels for roofs and walls; Manni Sipre, the European leader in prefabricated steel elements, and structural systems and components for building; Manni Inox, which works closely with Manni Sipre, but focusing on stainless steel; Manni Green Tech, which specializes in sustainable off-site construction and prefabrication for residential and industrial buildings; and Manni Energy, focusing on engineering of renewable sources, working with companies throughout the building process to improve energy efficiency, including analysis, design and performance monitoring.
Manni Group is also heavily committed to playing its part in experimenting with sustainable development in design. For example, it was part of the VELUXlab project - under the guidance of professor Marco Imperadori from Milan’s prestigious Polytechnic - to build the first Nearly Zero Energy house in Italy on the university’s campus, and the first Active House in Italy certified with “label as-built”. The project began in 2011 and it was a constant process of striving for improvement up to 2019, when it was completed with a new roof from the Green Roof system that combines Isopan polyurethane sandwich panels with the Daku green roof coverage solution. In total, 31 Isopan PVSteel panels were used,
pre-coupled with a Renolit Alkorplan Sst synthetic waterproof external lining membrane. Based on the Isodeck PVSteel and Isopiano products available on the market, these panels were 40 mm thick and 1,000 mm wide, with the length customized as required. The pitch of the 105 sq. m roof varies, with most of it covered with green layers using DAKU technology. As Imperadori noted, employing Isopan panels made it possible to completely change the roof layering to achieve significantly improved energy efficiency, water tightness and ventilation. In such a solution, buildings can reap the benefits of both an active, productive layer (the integrated photovoltaic system) and green coverage, to cut interior solar radiation. Isopan panels bring the additional benefits of rapid installation, excellent compatibility, building site safety and measurable performance, which is fundamental in an experimental building.
