Ca' Venezia, Venezia FC Headquarter: a building overlooking the green football pitches

The building that houses the new headquarters of Venezia FC was designed as a real "palace" of representation, taking as a model the Venetian symbol par excellence: the Doge's Palace.

The ground floor houses all the technical functions such as gyms, locker rooms and service rooms, in direct relation to the soccer fields. The second floor, the "piano nobile" according to Venetian typology, is where the administrative and representative functions of the club are located.

The loggia of the Doge's Palace acts as a filter between the reserved rooms and the public exterior of the square, the perimeter loggia of Ca' Venezia, which stylistically characterizes the building, represents the space of relationship between the administrative rooms and the sports fields where the athletes train.

The design of the new sports centre represents the point of contact between the external public space and the private and intimately circumscribed areas of the training grounds where the football teams train.
The building overlooks the car park protruding from the entrance so as to provide a wide and protected access: a sort of parallelepiped leaning against the black wall of the ground floor that continues to become a fence wall for the entire area.
The volume seems to float and fits orthogonally to the wall penetrating the green areas of the sports fields, becoming the functional and representative fulcrum of the entire sports centre: from the building one can see all the football fields and each of these has the building as a reference point.

The structure is equipped with the latest plant technologies, based on Renewable Energy Source systems using Heat Pump machines with aerothermal source and photovoltaic integration.
The building configuration, characterised by high thermal insulation and careful control of solar radiation, allows NZEB certification and an A4 energy classification, with a certifiable renewable energy coverage of over 60%.
A complex rainwater management system, necessary to guarantee hydraulic invariance in the event of extraordinary events, has been transformed into an opportunity to provide water for irrigating the sports fields, achieving maximum functionality with reduced consumption of environmental water resources.

Ca' Venezia is the heart of the Taliercio Sports Centre project, as the new administrative and sports headquarters of Venezia F.C.
The building is characterised by a loggia that runs along the entire perimeter overlooking the 'green sea' of football pitches. This architectural element allows light to filter through a combined fixed brise-soleil and sliding curtain shading system.
The main entrance gives access to a double-height semi-public area where the reception functions are located, and where there is a sculptural helicoidal concrete staircase leading to the press room and offices on the upper floor.
On the ground floor are the technical functions, the gymnasium and the dressing room dedicated to the first team.
The double-height gymnasium volume rises to the first floor where the President's office and the office corridors overlook the indoor training sessions. This space represents the visual and functional hinge between the technical and administrative areas: a sort of mutual participation that metaphorically alludes to the sense of belonging to the 'team'.
The dressing room dedicated to the First Team has been created with a circular layout, where the players all relate to each other frontally, building that sense of belonging and sharing that is the basis of team sport.
The first floor houses the entire corporate area, where there is a multifunctional hall that hosts press conferences. From here, there is access to a large outdoor terrace for outdoor public events.

"This innovative project is a milestone for Venezia FC. The new facility in Ca' Venezia is a unique, state-of-the-art sports centre in Italy and throughout Europe, which unites our clubhouse with the sports centre. Designed according to our philosophy: providing the best and most sustainable sports technology for players, fans and the club, the centre was conceived to optimise performance, training and the experience of all who visit the complex". (Duncan Niederauer - President of Venezia FC).

Curriculum

AI Progetti is a multidisciplinary company that incorporates in one workflow a wide range of specializations: engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape design, urban planning, restoration, project & construction management. We work as a single point of reference, capable of following the project development and its realization from the feasibility study to the executive and constructive project. This is possible because of our method, based on identification and sharing of a specific aim, through the collaboration between various disciplines and different requests (the one of the client, community and context).
In a flow of interaction and constant exchange between specific and general, between vertical specialization and design overview, we give life to works that exceed expectations not only in the final output, but also in the respect of deadlines, of the budget and of the aim that we share with the client.
