We hope to take advantage of the Asian Games as a grand event to show the world China's traditional culture through the language of architecture. The design is inspired by the most common folk "red lantern", which symbolises reunion and celebration and has long been one of the cultural symbols of the Chinese people. The Cricket Stadium adopts a double-layered skin system, with the classic red bricks of the University of Technology used on the outside to form a unique "brick curtain", while the inner side simulates the arrangement of window openings according to the lighting level, making clever use of light and shadow changes to reinterpret the traditional Chinese "red lantern".

The project takes "ecological aesthetics" as its core, draws inspiration from "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains", and deconstructs the lines and angles of the distant mountains through the use of architectural elements and language, as well as the analysis and interpretation of traditional landscape paintings. The facade of the building is made of ceramic bricks to create the texture of landscape paintings, and the mountain contour mixed with the actual forest behind it forms the landscape imagery of traditional Chinese landscape paintings. At the same time, the project adopts the classic red bricks of Zhejiang University of Technology as the exterior wall material, which becomes the new landmark of the university and at the same time harmonises with the existing buildings.

Adopting the double skin design of ceramic brick curtain wall, the project has designed a continuous landscape painting texture of stay holes on the brick wall to meet the light and ventilation requirements of the internal use functions. In addition, two types of holes, 240mm x 240mm and 120mm x 120mm, are spelled out to simulate the mountains in the near and distant views. There is a distance of 1.8m between the brick wall and the building facade. This approach not only organises the air convection between the two layers of the facade and provides a shading effect, but is also suitable for the internal post-game use function, which is mainly for meetings, and at the same time shields the air-conditioning outboard units and other equipment.

Project Advantage: The Asian Games Cricket Stadium project is situated at the foot of Pingfeng Mountain in the Ziwuchao Mountain National Forest Park and at the same time in the university campus, with the beautiful natural scenery in the distance and the vibrant university campus in the near distance. The unique natural and humanistic conditions make it a generator between exciting and intense events and campus life. Characteristics: The building is constructed as a "big roof", combining the original four-pitched roof form of the campus with the changing angle of the site perimeter to form an exaggerated acute angular projection. The overhanging eaves follow the curved lines of the cricket pitch, creating a rich under-roof space. At the same time, the roof is designed with a sloping texture to achieve a light and subtle visual effect. Through the creation of multi-dimensional outdoor platform space and under eaves space, the building and campus interpenetrate and share open space to meet the campus environment for teachers and students to gather, study, encounter and exercise.

From the first sketch to the last wall panel installation, architecture is a process of continuous thinking and advancement of a series of links such as form, space, façade, material, technology, structure, nodes, etc., which not only requires architects to observe, analyse and think in the whole process, but also requires close cooperation and control of various professions and links in order to achieve a high degree of completion of the work.
