Nestled in lush hills, the site extends along Zhaojiagangzi River, connected to the residential area by a scenic water corridor bridge. Terrain slopes east to west, primarily for nearby residential support. Adapting to terrain, the east aligns with the main road elevation, forming a carriageway encircled by pedestrian space. The west hosts a kindergarten with ample outdoor activity space. Horizontal massing with light wood-tone aluminum panels, warm stone, and glass curtains blend with surroundings. At night, warm light clusters amidst trees enhance the serene ambiance.
Located in Changchun City's Lianhua Mountain Ecotourism Resort, the site enjoys exceptional greenery and hilly terrain. It is close to a scenic riverside park. Spanning 1.53 hectares, it features street-facing buildings on the east side and four low-density buildings in the central section. Two two-story buildings on the south side enhance street presence. Ample spacing between buildings on the north side integrates the riverside landscape. The riverside park offers leisure options with gentle slopes, waterfront promenades, and water corridors. The kindergarten on the west side adjoins the riverside park, with its main entrance and outdoor activity areas on the south side. Its lower elevation relative to the central walkway creates a potential play area for children, enhancing the layout.
On the southwest side of the elevated platform, an underground parking entrance is strategically positioned, minimizing the need for steep car ramps or covering building shells. The central section's underground levels remain unoccupied to preserve green parking areas for natural shrubbery growth. For the buildings on the east side, basement levels are simply connected to the underground garage via pathways, minimizing excavation. The kindergarten on the west side has no basement to reduce ecological impact on the site. Additionally, the low-rise scattered building masses provide ample sunlight for the park on the north side.
For suburban sites, the horizontal skyline is its unique charm. We've designed the building massing to be horizontally extended, low-profile structures. Utilizing facade layering, we've divided the main facade into the ground floor and upper floors (1-2F), emphasizing a connection to the horizontal landscape. The ground floor features transparent glass curtains, blurring indoor-outdoor boundaries to integrate with the landscape. The upper floors (1-2F) incorporate delicate stone lines resembling tree trunks, paired with wooden-tone aluminum panels to form double-layered horizontal lines and projecting eaves. Vertical glass curtain walls are inserted between them. The solid walls on the rear side of the building incorporate vertical wooden-tone aluminum louvers, layered in a staggered manner to echo the horizontal skyline and blend with nature. On the west side, each classroom of the kindergarten is like a hidden treehouse, expressing unique orientations and colors, echoing the natural ecological environment outside.
The overall architecture exudes a warm and slightly luxurious ambiance, standing out uniquely in the surrounding environment.
