The Montefeltro Office Village project aimed to enhance the recognizability and quality of two existing office buildings situated along one of Milan's main entrance routes, creating a striking image to boost their commercial appeal. The project encompassed a comprehensive restyling of the facades, interior redesign of all common areas, and new landscaping for the central garden. The primary intervention introduced a facade screen composed of alternating triangular modules made of glass and perforated sheet metal: this architectural element has become the iconic new face of the building complex. The project was also concerned with reducing the building's energy consumption and, last but not least, the aim of generating a new high level of comfort for occupants.

The client's brief was to enhance the commercial appeal and quality of their 1980s office complex in Milan, consisting of two twin buildings with an internal courtyard. The buildings' overall appearance and materials were outdated, and the complex's true value, its strategic location along one of Milan's main access routes was overlooked in the original design.
The design solution has generated a new relationship between the buildings and the city, creating a modern and recognizable image both during the day, through the lively suspended metal and glass façade that reflect the landscape and the historic Certosa di Garegnano which is located in front, and at night with a composition of luminous linear elements that draw a minimalist diagram designed to be observed by traveling cars.
The technical aspects of the intervention focused on reducing consumption by almost 30% through a significant increase in thermal insulation and the creation of a highly efficient solar screen. The entire project adheres to essential and waste-free principles, in line with the circular economy's tenets of reducing, reusing and recycling. Reduction was achieved by avoiding unnecessary works and decorations, reuse by renovating existing buildings, and recycling by selecting construction and finishing materials that contain recycled content and are themselves recyclable, such as metal and glass.
The Montefeltro Office Village redevelopment project is characterized by its purposeful design: every element of this project was conceived to address specific needs rather than for purely aesthetic reasons. The new facade presented to the city, the updated identity of the complex, the common areas designed for informal work meetings, and the garden intended for breaks and relaxation all aim to provide a social contribution by enhancing the workplace and, consequently, the quality of life. Working in a dignified environment that promotes socialization, facilitated by meticulous design to eliminate architectural barriers and ensure accessibility to all spaces, undoubtedly enhances well-being and makes time spent at work more enjoyable and productive.
The Montefeltro Office Village project is characterized by a highly practical and contemporary approach to the client's requirements, both in intervention strategies and the construction solutions adopted. The decision to manage the budget rationally allowed the team to fully meet the client's needs and also to introduce a design element that was not initially planned but became central to the new image of the complex: the suspended screen. This innovative and recognizable feature enhances the building's character for both occupants and the city, and it is not merely an aesthetic element but also improves internal climate control, reducing mechanical cooling costs.
The client is fully satisfied with the results of this intervention which achieved the set objectives while respecting the available budget and the times foreseen for its implementation. The overall appearance has been completely transformed adding a strong appeal to a complex that was obsolete; furthermore, the works were carried out without limiting the tenants who were able to continue working in their offices during the construction site.
