As the commercial facilities of Dongyu Zone AB, it comprises two parts: a sunken plaza commercial space in the dynamic area and a clubhouse cluster in the static area, separated by a central greenway. The sunken plaza offers a sheltered environment with green landscapes, while the clubhouse cluster forms a tranquil central courtyard for users to relax and engage in activities. During summer, it hosts cultural performances and markets. The large entrance staircase opens towards the east-facing urban green belt, becoming a vibrant stage in the city.
Located in southeast Changchun City's serene Jingyue Area, this site is bordered to the north by the 40-meter-wide Yongshun Road (with 8-meter sidewalks on each side) and lush 20-meter-wide green belts. To the east lies the picturesque Jingyue Lake area, while the northwest corner hosts the future Sakura Street Station exit on Metro Line 6, slated for operation by December 2024. On the east, Sakura East Street, a 28-meter-wide central green axis (with 6-meter sidewalks on each side) and 20-meter-wide green belts on both sides, extends roughly 800 meters. Situated in the northwest corner of the Dongyu AB District, this site serves as both the commercial complement to its own project and the central commercial hub for neighboring communities.
The sunken plaza area includes 2F retail on the south, 6F offices and ground-level retail on the north, and 9F apartments and ground-level retail on the west. A large staircase on the east opens to the central green space. This setup shields the plaza from harsh winter winds and fosters a stable microclimate for activities. Lower retail on the south side allows sunlight to reach the central green area, while no basement below promotes healthy vegetation growth. The clubhouse cluster encloses an inward-facing courtyard, promoting sustainability. Central greenway roads soften external spaces effectively.
In the north sunken plaza area of the trapezoidal site, staggered 6F office buildings feature stone-clad beams with vertical metal lines filled with aluminum windows. A 2-meter protruding glass box approximately 20 meters long on the south side serves as a commercial showcase and links to plaza activities. 2F retail spaces, positioned back-to-back on the north and south sides, feature clean stone-framed facades filled with full-height glass curtain walls. The west 9F apartment block offers a clean backdrop for the plaza and functions as accommodation and postpartum care centers. Ample passages exceeding 5 meters in width are provided in front of the retail spaces, with a north-south bridge serving as a stage beneath. Large east-west staircases draw crowds, complementing the geometric greenery of the central landscape, creating a retail loop for a uniform commercial atmosphere. Diverse materials define space segmentation or unity. On the south side, the clubhouse cluster exhibits rhythmic variations along the street through a combination of units, with three on the east side and a gradual retreat forming a rhythmic pattern. Exterior elements include horizontal roofline, projecting wing walls, decorative columns, and multilayered facade vocabulary. The landscaped plaza offers a comfortable visual experience indoors.
This project offers two distinct yet lush green outdoor spaces, with the sunken plaza bustling with crowds and vibrant cultural events, while the clubhouse courtyard provides a tranquil retreat for business or service professionals to unwind and reflect. Through meticulous design and attention to detail, one can experience the vibrant essence of contemporary living.
