The design idea was born by comparing ourselves with our clients who requested
an exclusive residential tourist space. From this request we first remodeled the spaces
for the creation of 3 bedrooms and a common kitchen space for them.
We subsequently designed every detail, using mainly natural materials such as wood and irongreat importance was given to the lighting design with the choice of dedicated lighting fixtures
The context where the property is located is the historic center of Taormina.
The real estate unit is part of a portion of the historic center with column buildings overlooking public roads.
The use of local materials, such as Taormina stone for the jambs, and the remaking
of the balconies in wrought iron are some of the design choices relating to the surrounding
landscapeMaia Flora is totally contextualized in the neighborhood
The sustainability of our project was thought of both for the design of the mechanical systems,
implemented by photovoltaic panels as well as for the inclusion of flow reducers in
the showers and bathroom cisterns with a smaller quantity of water. The paints are all natural lime and the floors are made of natural oak treated with water
The wooden window frames have thermal break with low-emissivity glass with argon gas inside
The strength of our project is the exclusivity of every single detail "designed" and thought
for Maia Flora. The rooms are different from each other with furnishings, beds, upholstery,
exclusive lighting for the unit itself. The idea is to make the guest feel at home, but with all
the comforts of a small hotel. The bathrooms are equipped with large showers and covered
with ceramics which differ from time to time. Finally, great importance and importance
comes from the terrace that dominates the Taormina roofs and which also allows outdoor
recreation in a neighborhood that has no terraces, except small overhanging balconies.
The client was enthusiastic about the project created by the Moduslab studio, managing to satisfy his expectations in the best possible way.
Moduslab is an architecture and interior design studio with the ambition of ensuring that architecture can be perceived for the harmony of shapes and proportions, for the cleanliness of the lines and for the sense of balance that arises from this . Architecture is simplification and rationality. The studio approaches the definition of architecture in a transversal way, dealing with residential, commercial, tourist accommodation and social architecture, with the recovery of abandoned and disused properties for reuse for social purposes.
