Erzurum Archeological Museum is located in the historic part of the city, right next to "Üç Kümbetler", the mausoleums which dated back to 12th century. To respond to this historic heritage the museum embraces history and tradition of the region. The three main blocks of museum; entrance, exhibition and laboratory are located to create a courtyard which also defines the main entrance and open exhibition space. The internal design proposes a flexible layout while providing a scenario in a thematic manner.

The museum designed in a form that creates a u-shaped courtyard surrounded by a colonnade arcade, where the entrance hall is at the center. The courtyard opens towards the historical part of the city and the park, merging the existing heritage of the city with its exhibitions and create a sense of unified experience. The arcades allow a protected entry to the museum against the climatic conditions of the region, providing protection against heavy snowfall.
The exhibition hall is designed in two floors with a gallery which allows to organize different installations. The exhibition halls are arranged due to the chronological and thematic characteristics of the collections. The interior design setup, which was created with the concern of examining the works given in the context of permanent exhibition space design and modernizing the display concept, also makes reference to the design elements to be used in the temporary exhibition space. The goal is to create a concept space suitable for the story of the works to be exhibited. It is to create spaces where effective presentation techniques are used in a fiction that will attract the attention of visitors to the museum.
The museum became an attraction point not only for the locals but for the visitors of Erzurum city. Besides the great exhibits, the interior design and the building itself became an important cultural aspect of Erzurum.
UMM - Uludag Architecture and Consultant is an architecture, engineering and consultancy company offering architectural, engineering, planning, feasibility studies, supervision, construction consultancy and management services in Turkey & abroad. UMM was founded by Orhan ULUDAG and Zeynep ULUDAG in 1987, and each co-founder has been graduated from METU department of Architecture. They participated in several national and international architectural and urban design project competitions and exhibitions, realized national and international projects with different programs and dimensions. Among the references of UMM, there are administrative and commercial buildings, cultural and congress centers, museums, libraries, university and school buildings, hotels, hospitals, metro and light rail systems, airport facilities, high speed train stations, sports facilities, industrial plants, military facilities, housing projects, multi-use complexes, landscape projects, city parks, etc.
