The simplest polygon has three sides, and drawing inspiration from this, the Trio armchair embodies the essence of simplicity and balance. This design celebrates the integration of three fundamental materials: wood, metal, and fabric.
These materials come together to create a piece that is both functional and comfortable. The materials – leather, fabric and wood – stands for the seat, backrest and frame respectively.

The mix of materials used in the design contribute to the overall comfort of users and aesthetic pleasing design piece. Trio is made by 100% italian manufacturers, a strategy to support local business.
An armchair with a clear Brazilian twist in which the rationalist design of Studio MK27 joins Minotti’s manufacturing know-how, bringing out the skilful and combined use of three different materials – leather, fabric and wood – for the seat, backrest and frame.
Hence the name Trio. This slender and aesthetically light, yet solid furnishing piece accommodates a sophisticated padded seat and backrest featuring exquisite craftsmanship, that meets the typical refinement of Brazilian cabinet-making in the multi-sectional woodwork of the frame.
The pleasant comfort of the seat and the tactile sensation provided by the polished armrests offer an evocative sensory experience.
Trio is also a tribute to three important designers, taking inspiration from specific points in their designs. From Brazil, Joaquim Tenreiro and the slender wooden structures, granting aesthetic lightness. The Italian Gio Ponti, inspired the colorful elements represented in the metallic pieces. And the Danish Hans Wegner, and his craftsmanship, masters the construction process and knows how to propose the best aesthetic solutions, making the most of the material.
Studio MK27 located in the chaotic city of São Paulo was founded in the late 70’s by architect Marcio Kogan and today is comprised of 56 members and various collaborators worldwide.
Kogan is an honorary member of the AIA (American Institute of Architecture), Professor at Politecnico di Milano and on the board of Museum Of Art of São Paulo (MASP) and the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture and Ecology (MUBE). He leads a team of architects who, for the most part, have been working with him for over a decade.
The team, coordinated by four directors, constitutes three main squads. Diana Radomysler, Marcio’s partner since the 90s, is the author of the interior design projects and coordinates its team. Partners since the beginning of the 2000s, Renata Furlanetto and Suzana Glogowski direct the architecture team and sign most of the designs. The architect Mariana Simas, partner since 2008, is the executive director leading the new projects, human resources, finance and communications teams.
