Stonehill Taylor became involved in the Warren Street Hotel project through ongoing collaboration with Firmdale Hotels. This partnership marks the third project together, following successful collaborations on The Whitby Hotel and Crosby Street Hotel. The idea was to introduce a stand out building to the heart of one of New York’s most loved neighborhoods. Stonehill Taylor approached the design by integrating elements that paid homage to Tribeca's industrial heritage while incorporating modern aesthetics and playful design. The facade was designed to be visually captivating. The vibrant color scheme was chosen to distinguish the building from the surrounding brick structures, making it a prominent landmark in the neighborhood.
Situated in the heart of Tribeca, Stonehill Taylor paid homage to the neighborhood's industrial legacy while also incorporating elements of playfulness and modernity. The vibrant colors of the Warren Street Hotel's facade stand out against the surrounding brick buildings, adding a contemporary flair to the streetscape. The architectural design of the facade evokes the aesthetic of a 1900s iron-tight design structure, reminiscent of Tribeca’s historic buildings. This blend of homage to the area's heritage and contemporary design elements creates a unique and visually striking space that complements its surroundings while also making a bold statement.
The hotel’s design reflects a commitment to modernity and sustainability. The use of high-quality materials and the careful consideration of light and space ensure that the building not only stands out visually but also performs well over time. The expansive windows enhance the building's appearance and allow for ample natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere inside. The Warren Street Hotel’s striking facade and thoughtful design elements make it a noteworthy addition to New York City's hospitality landscape.
Stonehill Taylor served as the architect for the ground-up construction of the Warren Street Hotel, a remarkable addition to New York City's architectural landscape. Stonehill Taylor partnered with interior designer Kit Kemp to bring to life a vibrant and distinctive hotel experience. The facade, characterized by its striking blue and yellow color scheme, is a standout feature in the neighborhood, showcasing Stonehill Taylor's commitment to pushing design boundaries. With a nod to Tribeca's industrial heritage, the facade incorporates expansive windows and high beams, creating a visually captivating structure. Through attention to detail and the use of modern materials, the architects ensured both aesthetic appeal and long-term durability.
The standout elements include the striking facade with its cyan blue framework and bright yellow rooftop. Stonehill Taylor has given Warren Street Hotel a distinct identity with its carefully constructed facade of vibrancy. To achieve this visual effect, a cladding system of rainscreen metal panels is layered atop a concrete structure, producing shadows and reflections against the lively facade while filling the interiors with natural sunlight. The cladding is made up of metal extrusions resulting in sharper edges, cleaner finishes, and a longer lifespan. Guests can also enjoy unobstructed views of the iconic World Trade Center and Lower Manhattan from the rooftop.
The Warren Street Hotel is a momentous achievement for Stonehill Taylor. It represents not only the culmination of the third collaboration with Firmdale Hotels but also underscores the firm's position at the forefront of designing transformative hospitality experiences across New York City. With each project, the goal was to redefine the city's skyline and elevate the standard for hotel design and guest experiences.
