Similar to urban parks and plazas: Accenture office Munich

The idea of the concept resulted from the requirements of the project to organize and design 14,000 m2 of office space for several agencies of Accenture. The developed city concept draws on infrastructures and uses coming from urban planning by designing the areas at connecting points of the buildings with special areas, with parks and plazas. These areas serve on the one hand as communication and recreation areas, and on the other hand as multifunctional workshop and meeting zones. Similar to urban parks and plazas, these spaces are spacious and provide space for special activities.

The site of Accenture's new office space at Campus Neue Balan is located on an old industrial site in Munich. The architectural history of the site also influenced the interior design for Accenture. Industrial materials such as expanded metal, rough wooden floors and steel characterize the design. The generous window areas create a strong visual reference to the old, surrounding buildings as well as to the pool in front.

During implementation, value was placed on local and regional companies. But Accenture also attached importance to a local planning office when selecting the interior designers in order to keep travel distances for planning meetings or site inspections short. After all, the entire planning and construction period of the project took almost four years. Natural materials such as wood, textiles or stone were used for most parts for the interior design.

An interior concept had to be developed which could be implemented on a few thousand square meters and still respond to the needs of the individual companies. An urban planning approach in which the elements of a city such as parks, plazas and neighborhoods were interpreted in terms of interior architecture finally formed the basis of the design, which optimally implements Accenture's New Work requirements.

Together with Accenture, an office location with an exceptionally high proportion of communal and communication areas was implemented. Due to the COVID pandemic, adjustments to the planning process had to be made again and again. After many employees work from home, the Munich location has increasingly become a point of contact for employees for workshops, project meetings or office events. This hybrid way of working at an innovative location embodies Accenture's working philosophy.

Based on the smart idea of comparing Accenture in Munich with its diverse company parts to the structure of the city New York, connected by districts, parks, plazas, streets, cafes, etc., an office world has been created that will continue in the times after Covid and all the challenges of how we will collaborate in the future. This story as well as the corresponding interior architecture made the office a successful Campus space that is beyond compare.
