This project is the exhibition space and reception center of MUUSA Furniture factory headquarters, located in Heshan, China. With the change of domestic consumption and market environment, the brand manager hopes to further strengthen and enhance the tonality and recognition of the brand. The first phase began with the transformation of the factory environment, aiming to provide a comfortable and immersive environment for employees and visiting guests. The designer tries to find clues and answers to problems on site, and through the remodeling of the graphic planning and internal and external relations, finally achieve the unique project quality and spatial experience.
The project is located on the outskirts of the city, 20 minutes' drive from the city center. The natural environment of the project site is very superior and the air is fresh. Around the project are local ancient villages, fish ponds, agricultural land and so on. The designer tries to express the unique attributes of the project on the basis of this environment. The designer hopes that the guests can obviously feel the slowing down of the pace when they arrive in this space from the city, so that they can relax in the space and carry out in-depth experience and business communication.
The designer tried to create a space with a natural texture, so the overall color of the space is beige gray. The design avoids the use of industrial materials as much as possible, including oak veneer, marble cave stone, texture paint and so on. The concrete wall extending from the outside into the interior was poured on-site by the construction team, and the marble floor was processed by the factory and laid by hand by the site construction personnel. With this project, the designer was selected as the 40Under40 Outstanding Young Designer in Asia Pacific in 2022 by Hong Kong PERSPECTIVE Magazine, as well as winning the 2022 American Architecture Master Prize and the Design of the Year Award of China Jinteng Award.
First, in the transformation design, the designer tried to establish an interpenetrating relationship between indoor and outdoor, and weakened the boundary between indoor and outdoor through floor-to-ceiling glass and extended wall. This not only allows the physical scale of the site to be visually extended, but also allows the light of the site to create rich layers and poetic tranquility within the interior Spaces. The designers hope to make a difference in the industry with this project. And bring new ideas and perspectives to the market in the combination of artistic and functional aspects. The designer chose beige marble cave stone, oak and Italian olive wood, as well as texture paint as the main materials, and extended the material from the floor and walls to the furniture and accessories, thus achieving a uniform tone and warm atmosphere. Spaces are connected by zigzag channels, and art installations are carefully arranged in the public space, allowing people to walk, watch, meditate and communicate. In this process, feel the brand's new look and outlook for the future lifestyle.
The designer has been committed to studying how to make the public space have a strong artistic quality, as well as people's immersion experience in the space, trying to create a public space with both art and comfort, taking into account the display and practicality, blurting the functional attributes of each space, hoping to extend the potential and possibility of space use in the concrete use process.
