The architectural project consists, as requested by the client, of a building for residential use, made up of 4 units, as well as common areas and parking located on the street level. The project aims to redevelop the area by proposing a contemporary architecture from the point of view of the aesthetic language and the relationship with the surrounding city context and at the same time offering quality solutions for the living spaces. The building is on a plot adjacent to the historic center in a low-density residential area.
The exposure, the views and the pre-existing structures have generated the arrangement of the architecture and the openings: the relationship of the domestic spaces with natural light and greenery is fundamental. The buildings are arranged on the E and W edges of the lot, resulting in an introverted architecture: to the N with a completely deaf surface, to the E with a slightly permeable front, with a few small-sized views; to the W the building interfaces with the neighborhood with pedestrian and vehicular accesses and windows of different sizes on the upper levels. The introverted vocation is expressed in the central void with pathways and greenery in part common, in part belonging to the ground floor duplex unit.
Each unit has its own garage on floor 0 and a second uncovered space for a second car or a guest. Pedestrians access directly from the road, or after having parked in the garage directly to the internal courtyard arriving at the lodgings via covered paths. A particular feature aimed at quality living and maximum privacy is the conception of having each floor which gives access to one single apartment, reachable by stairs or lift thanks to the staggering of the levels in height. One aspect that has been studied with particular attention is the privacy of internal views: the units facing each other towards the internal garden are designed to preserve the privacy of the inhabitants as much as possible, while guaranteeing generous openings and natural light in the best hours of the day . The blind and glazed surfaces of the facing lodgings intersect in a rhythm of full and empty spaces which counterbalance each other on the various floors, ensuring that parallel to each glazing there is a blind wall on the opposite side.
