The project is adjacent to an urban green space consisting of the Tomb of the King of Guzongni, Tianlong Temple and Yuhuatai Park in the west, office zoom in the east, and office and commercial complexes on both the north and south sides. Before the project was commissioned to us, the two guest room buildings had been constructed according to the original design plan for a long time, and the underground space and above-ground main structures had been basically completed. The plan opens as a "C" shape to the west. By removing the envelopes of the ground floor of the original buildings and the new constructions, the urban spaces on the east and west sides are connected to realize a natural transition from the forest park to the bustling city. The original foundation pit is treated as a three-story setback, the huge height difference in the site is eliminated through the softened form in order to create a picturesque and gradually spreading landscape. The arrangement of trees, stones and water follows with the route of travel in the site and the relationship of the building layout to form the landscape of the sunken courtyard. The boundaries between landscape and architecture are more blurred, creating a permeable and boundless courtyard landscape for the hotel. The design attempts to return to the logic system and formal language of classic buildings, so as to extend the building’s façade in the horizontal direction, to open up the ground floor, to stagger the massing and set up overhangs, etc. While deconstructed and recombined the hotel functions, the construction types are selected to deal with the diversity of hotel operating space. From the perspective of "function" and "space", the experience is extended by placing some spaces that may not be clearly defined by, and the public space is connected to make up for the long circulation in the original design. It brings more potential value and richness of content, and improves the experience for long time accommodation, and makes the hotel a complex business, which carries the good yearning for life. The opening method of the building refers to the traditional Chinese garden’s control method of sight, trying to use the horizontal and vertical gaps between the blocks, as well as the sky courtyards and corridors scattered among the high-level guest rooms of the building. It frames the views with the surrounding environment, associating to bring users a more unique viewing experience. This transition between different pictures also creates opportunities to arrange more different content and landscapes.
