Lotus Oriental Restaurant, a symbol of Ukiyo-e art style

Dive yourself into a green oriental garden and let yourself be pampered by luxurious curtains in a dedicated VIP room. A restaurant that turns into a garden and a garden that turns into a restaurant: this is the common thread guiding the different design of the various rooms of the new Japanese Restaurant Lotus, where green vigorously conquers the design and harmonizes all the shapes. Ukiyo-e represents a particular Japanese art style: it means pictures from all over the “fluctuant” world and it’s a kind of Japanese printing in woodblock representing landscape, nature and theatrical items. Ukiyo-e is about the new, impetuous and young culture, born in the city of Edo (now known as Tokyo), Osaka and Kyoto. The painter and engraver Katsushika Hokusai, lived around the 1700, was one of the most important representative persons in the Ukiyo-e style. Like the Yin and Yang in the ancient Chinese culture, the dining area represents the union of opposites inside the Lotus restaurant. Feminine and masculine, black and white, moon and sun. The force of light in a shadow area that create a perfect atmosphere for a dining room, following the principle of integrated architecture where the exterior dialogues in harmony with the interior. Inside the “Emotional Dining Room” people are guided between the tables thanks to the light and the waves created by the drapes. The warm color blends perfectly with the wood floor and the environment. Every table is connected to the space and, in the same time, the drapes can give the privacy for a perfect dinner. The architectural project inserts into the facade a full band planted with different kind of slow growing plants, equipped with automatic irrigation system. This band is in contraposition with the glass walls and this creates a play of contrasts and increases the microclimatic conditions of the spaces near, that develop along two of the main roads. Green roofs provide shade, remove heat from the air, and reduce temperatures of the roof surface and surrounding air. The hall represents the perfect position for a bioclimatic greenhouse in the Lotus Japanese Restaurant because is the first area that could amaze the new customers. Thanks to this system, environment is heated in a natural way, ensuring significant savings in economic and energy terms. The light, coming from the top of every table, create a game of contrast inside one of the dining areas. The circle shape, added to the smooth waves created by the drapes, gave to this room the perception of a “Emotional” area transforming the dinner into a Sensorial Experience.
