Bon Voyage!

Situated on land projecting into the sea off Yokohama, the InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 itself appears to be floating in the water, as it welcomes super luxury cruise lines from all over the world. The interior concept "Bon Voyage!" evokes feelings of ocean breeze, the water surface, sunlight, and the natural swaying of the ocean. Entrance staircases spiral like the sea shells on a beach, and guest rooms are designed with large windows that can be opened to the sea breeze. The design goal was a hotel where guests can enjoy a sense of excitement and freedom, as if on an ocean cruise.

Yokohama, which opened its port in the 19th century, is famous for its historical buildings such as the red brick warehouses, but it is also known for having prospered as a large settlement constructed by traders from overseas.

Situated on land that juts out into the ocean, the InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 hotel and Shinko Pier Cruise Terminal seems to float above the ocean as they welcome super-giant cruise ships that travel around the world.

The interior concept "Bon Voyage!" evokes feelings of ocean breeze, the water surface, sunlight, and the natural swaying of the ocean.

At the first floor entrance there is a small spiral staircase like a snail playing in the waves on the beach, and when guests reach the top of the staircase, they are welcomed by the front desk.

Passing the front desk, guests enter the restaurant with its delicious aromas and sounds, light staff movements, and an open kitchen with a sizzling feeling. From the seats, guests can look through the large openings that let in lots of light and breezes, and see the sky with birds flying overhead.

Each room on the 3rd to 5th floor has its luxurious space over 45㎡, and the windows can also be opened widely, so that guests can breathe in the ocean breezes and enjoy feelings of excitement and freedom as if on a cruise, with a sense of realism unique to a low-rise hotel with the horizon facing the height of the line of sight.

The inner terrace and the ceilings near windows are finished with wood, so that people walking by the hotel also get the feeling of being on board a ship when they look up.

The rooftop, which overlooks Yokohama Port with the sea breeze, is designed conscious of the deck on the ship, and comfortable lighting and furniture with the feelings of the resort were arranged accordingly.

A hotel built amidst sea breezes and the ocean surface with their fluctuations of sunlight and nature, set against a background of the gas lights of the carriageway and the illumination, etc. of civilization. The design appeals to all five senses, with the feeling of praying for the safety and comfort of guests, wishing them "Bon Voyage!".
