The project develops from the study of the surrounding environment, in order to determine its characteristic and significant elements, and from the investigation of the functional characteristics of the project in such a way as to give each function appropriate spaces, placed in an efficient system of relations.
The new school will have a great personality thanks to the predominance of the Blue colour, symbol of calm, tranquillity and balance. The blue colour will have the ability to generate a sense of relaxation and security in the emotional sphere of the boys who will attend.
We chose to design X-LAM prefabricated wood panels, a sustainable and environmentally friendly construction solution.
The school has a rectangular shape with rounded corners, which allow greater permeability and connection with the interior. To make it even more fluid, there is a large terrace with a curved profile located on the first floor.
From the entrance there is access to a large central atrium, around which are located classrooms and laboratories, all in terms of relationship and hospitality in every detail. A large staircase, illuminated naturally by large skylights, leads us to the upper floors.

The coordination between the administration, the didactic direction and the planners has taken into account all the important aspects in order to achieve a school of vanguard.
Due to its environmental sustainability characteristics, the school will have the LEED registered certification, awarded by the Green Building Council, the most authoritative international organization for the eco-evaluation of buildings and environmental sustainability. In the design phase, it has been taken into account the impact that the building will have on the environment, on the economic side, on society and on health.

An earthquake-resistant building. flexible to future changes in teaching, with low operating and maintenance costs compared to the existing building.
Each room will have the correct spaces both functional and didactic.
All accessibility and visibility criteria for the new building and for connections with existing ones will be guaranteed.
Moreover, during the stage of construction site, the interferences will be diminished the most possible, so as to prevent the unexpected risks and the consequent stops during the work.

A new outdoor area, open and dedicated to rest, play, contact with nature.
+ Autochthonous green
Only "native" species will be planted, which will allow a water demand equal to that provided by local rainfall, without the need for irrigation.
- "Heat island" effect
We avoid summer overheating thanks to large green areas and floors that reflect the heat.
Water is a precious resource, we do not waste it, rather, we reuse it.
+ Reduction

All washbasin mixers and flushers are chosen to require a use of water lower than standard.
In this way you will get 32% reduction in water intake!
+ Recovery
To further reduce water demand, an underground tank has been installed to recover rainwater for non-drinking use.
A new smart system to have the best well-being inside.
+ Light
Natural lighting will be balanced with artificial lighting and will consist of durable and low-energy LED luminaires.
+ Ventilation
In case it will not be possible to open the windows to ventilate naturally, a series of probes will be able to measure the level Co2 and automatically turn on the ventilation system.
The sun’s energy will power the new school, with a large photovoltaic system.
The school is powered by the photovoltaic system located on the roof of the school.
The energy that contributes to 57.83% of power the school’s systems: lighting, air conditioning, ventilation, plug load.
A high-performance X-Lam wooden structure.
The walls and the roof provide excellent insulation from the outside.

In this way the demand for energy to heat and cool the school decreases considerably.
The wooden structure, natural and recycled, has anti-seismic, renewable and organic properties, ensuring a healthy environment for students.
The details that will make the new school unique.
Acoustic well-being
A good acoustic comfort given by sound-insulating materials will improve the quality of learning of the students.
Open space
Functional and equipped open spaces give quality to the school.
Common space
There will be shared spaces available to the school for sports and leisure.
The strengths of our project.

In dealing with the project for the creation of the school centre of S. Martino di Lupari were kept in mind both the needs of the client and the final user, here are the main objectives:
• A low-cost iconic contemporary building for the city
• A project with high technical value thanks to the use of BIM level 2, that is integrating all disciplines within the same information model
• Compressed timing without loss of quality, thanks to effective coordination between various professionals, our specific experience in school design and use of BIM
• A building being certified LEED registered. We followed the LEED registered checklist: to guide the design to maximum sustainability in all aspects and throughout the life cycle of the building.

Curriculum

The associate studio Settanta7, born in 2009 in a small room for rent, now has a total of 4 locations, Turin, Milan, Lyon and Acireale, in which there are about forty professionals. We design schools, gyms, public buildings in Italy and France. We make projects that not only serve, but become indispensable and precious. We are attentive to what happens outside our scenario and we know how to listen. By the end of this journey, marked by poetry, technological research, choice of natural materials and too many coffees we are pleased to have opened a breach of wonder and beauty.
Since 2014 we use BIM design tools, which allows us to think big and produce integrated and ambitious projects, with high efficiency in terms of time and design quality.
We address every project with the aim of minimizing its economic and environmental impact. That’s why we design using X-LAM wood: sustainable, renewable, antisimic.
