THE HOUSE ON THE ISLAND MURTER
The house site is found in a tipical mediterranean- dalmatian situation/ surrounding ;
from the one side, a multi-apartment house made for the market, on the other pseudotraditional luxury oversized poolside villa.
A long and narrow site determines the form of the house, and the client's love for exotic plants offers inspiration on how to solve the neighbours' contact zone and create a very private world, framed by two frames.
The first and upper one frames the loggia, a space for daily activities, which comprises kitchen, dining and lounge, and overlooks the pool.
The lower frame outlines the view towards the longitudinal garden, a space of peacefulness and privacy.
Architecture frames the gardens and the pool, distancing itself from non-inspiring surrounding.
Choice of horticulture strongly defines this project, and achitecture does not try to compete. The form of the house is elementar.
Such approach is present in the choice of materials, floor and walls being in similar textures so they become one unit.
The approach in designing the house was to create a spatious and comfortable seaside living, with maximum privacy in a dense neighbourhood, while offering outside and inside spaces in different character, so needed in living outside.
Therefore the poolside loggia, which offeres both shade and privacy, while enjoying the pool. Or the lower floor loogia which is completely hidden from views.
The exuberant vegetation and the simple form of the house, make it exotic, almost as if you would place it somewhere far more south!
The construction of the house is in concrete. The finishings of exterior walls of the house and the floors outside, including the pool, are done in a special technique of inserting small pieces of stone into fresh plaster.
