Course Description
The course examines a vacation home built on a steep slope in a striking natural setting with spectacular views. The forms and materials used have produced a building characterized by its geometric rigor. The project responds to residents’ needs for comfort, livability, and usable spaces, all connected by carefully designed pathways. The course describes the new building through images and technical drawings, and provides construction details with explanatory legends and an introductory text.

  2. Analyze the materials used to construct the building, including its sun-shading and finishes, and discuss how these contribute to interior comfort.
  3. Analyze the relationship between the interior and exterior where nature and the living space overlap, and explain how materials and form enable the house to fit into its setting.
  4. Analyze if the home has any features that set it apart from a traditional house, and discuss the relationship between floor plan, function and the usability of space.
