Course Description
This course examines a visually impactful residential building set in spectacular natural landscape. Its sinuous forms have been achieved by materials that allow the creation of original and elegant shapes while blending effortlessly with their natural surrounds. The architectural program is an example of how user comfort and livability requirements can be combined with an innovative, contemporary esthetic that nonetheless sits happily in a traditional island setting. The course includes a large number of pictures, technical drawings and a construction detail with legends as well as an introductory text.

Learning Objectives – after reading the article and studying the drawings, you will be able to:

  1. Describe how the striking architectural design nonetheless blends with its natural environment, and to what extent the program is a symbolic reference.
  2. Analyze how functional excellence and occupant comfort depend on dialogue between Client and architect as well as collaboration among the many technical disciplines involved in the construction of a building.
  3. Explore how the program combines technical excellence with environment safeguard, and explain how the project is posited on blending a built structure with its natural setting.
