Course Description
The course examines the finishes employed in a large-scale development project south of Copenhagen in a rapidly growing area. A complete overview of the project is provided and the technologies and materials discussed. Course material includes an explanatory text, many pictures and a series of technical and construction-detail drawings of the envelope and construction system accompanied by legends. On completing the course, you will have exhaustive information regarding the project, the high-performance systems and materials adopted and the way innovative architectural forms have created new residential and communal spaces.

Learning Objectives – after reading the article and studying the drawings, you will be able to:

  1. Analyze how the structural and exterior screening materials contribute to both occupant comfort and the general quality of urban living.
  2. Identify the technological characteristics that permit highly functional urban density as well as environmentally sustainable structures.
  3. Analyze the strategies adopted to ensure occupant comfort combined with reduced visual impact.
  4. Analyze how the program has reconciled the requirements of individual privacy and highly functional circulation routes in a large-scale development.
